A group of 5 republicans and 5 democrats have reached an agreement on the American Jobs Plan. The new bill will spend $1.2 trillion and only need $579 billion in new money. By passing the bill in a bipartisan way, this opens up a path for democrats to put whatever they want into the next stimulus package or American Families Plan, including a 4th stimulus checks, free daycare, free community college and more. However, progressive democrats are critical of the new proposal, saying it is too low and doesn’t go after their party agenda items. Representative Rashida Talib said there still needs to be $2000 survival checks to help those most in need. She also said Jeff Bezos should get lost in space after paying little to no taxes.
