The High Yield ETF (HYLD) is an actively-managed ETF investing in U.S. high yield corporate bonds. The fund focuses on comparatively risky bonds, and so boasts an above-average 6.5% dividend yield. It is a strong yield, but one which will very likely be cut in the coming months, as lower interest rates and credit spreads have significantly reduced the fund’s generation of income. Risky bonds also have high default rates, and so sometimes suffer capital losses and underperformance, which has been the case for HYLD since its inception.
